beams of light

Fake beams of light retouched on the computer is very convincing and easy, but in our day ( oh hell I'm sounding like my dad)  Beams of light will only show up in a dirty atmosphere dust smoke etc. In the theatre and cinema they use smoke machines , these work by burning a ' harmless' oil that can have many additives to create different smells,most of them foul.

Well I preferred the cigarette at least I knew it was bad for you.By smoking four or five cigarettes and waving the smoke around we could get enough flare from the light to see the beam of light but not destroy the contrast in the rest of the image.

The shot was for a pasta company competition, the prize the car if you could guess the weight of the pasta in it.The priest is supposed to be looking up at God in a guilty way.

Any way just to prove it's not done on the computer. Lots of coughing and one little spot.  N.B.The darker the background the better the beams of light show up
